Demand for corporate access—the business by sell-side firms of connecting investors with executives—was up in Australia and New Zealand over the past year, and a familiar group of teams were there to meet the need.
“Each year the corporate access team pivots to respond to consumer demand based on what is happening in the market,” Rob Taubman, UBS Head of Advisory Sales ANZ, said. “This year we adapted and saw increased demand coming from the resources sector, resulting in a higher level of resources tours and meetings."
Taubman reported that this was also matched by firm’s research team, which increased its research coverage in small cap resources stocks. “There was further an increase in focus from our overseas clients on international stocks and that saw a higher level of international corporates accessing UBS’ client offerings,” he added.
It also explains why UBS was once again recognized as the No. 1 corporate access team in the region, according to the results of Extel’s 2026 Australia and New Zealand’s survey.
Participants in the annual Australia and New Zealand Research Team and Executive Team surveys voted on the firms that provided the best corporate access based on specified attributes. From the buy-side point of view, Extel received responses from 57 investors at 48 firms and were asked to consider the following attributes: conferences; logistics; field trips; road Shows; team quality and expert access.
