Investors in European equities are navigating an increasingly tangled web of geopolitical uncertainty, evolving monetary policy expectations, election cycles, and a rapidly changing technology environment, according to the region’s top brokers. The European landscape remains “dynamic,” according to Dina Geha, global head of distribution at BNP Paribas, which means that investors continue to be highly selective and focused on generating differentiated insights.
“For our sales team, this reinforces the importance of senior relationships built over years of coverage,” she said. “Clients increasingly expect their sales coverage to help them identify opportunities, connect them with the right content and deliver coverage in a timely and efficient manner.”
BNP Paribas’s approach continues to evolve around those needs, she added. “We have invested in collaboration across research, corporate access, trading and data-driven solutions,” Geha said. “The goal is not simply to provide information, but to help clients make better decisions in an increasingly complex environment.”
They are succeeding, according to the respondents of Extel’s 2026 Developed Europe Sales Team, who once again voted BNP Paribas as the No. 1 provider in the region.
Participants in the broader research survey rated firms on their generalist and specialist sales teams. For best generalist sales, more than 1,500 buy-side money managers at 767 firms considered six attributes when ranking: adding value to research, global context, idea generation, market knowledge and feel, service and responsiveness, and understanding client needs.
For best specialist sales, more than 2,450 money managers at 983 firms rated specialist salespeople in each research sector on a scale from 1-5. A numerical score for each sector was produced by weighting each vote based on both the responding firm’s European equity commissions and their rating.
